Teaching in the Digital Age

We are teaching in the 21st Century, emphasized as the “Digital Age,” educating children who are digital natives and digital immigrants. At the same time, there are traditional, digital natives, and emerging digital teachers. My professional experiences I view the traditional teacher, is identified as the teacher who is set on their style of teaching 20-30 years ago, and are against change. The digital native teachers are educators fresh out of college, ready to integrate technology in everything they do and persuade others that their methods are beneficial. Emerging digital immigrant teachers are willing and able to adapt and modify their teaching styles and methods to help benefit the needs of their students.
Dr. Bruce D. Berry, Baylor College of Medicine explains, “Different kinds of experiences lead to different brain structures.” I can acknowledge that some are just gifted in different areas, while others are humble to learn from the gifted. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, but reality is that our purpose is to learn from each other.
We must accept that the world is different! We must adjust to the winds and learn of it's nature, in order to connect with our children. Our children needs to experience TECHNOLOGY, and it is our responsibility to provide them with it!
